HEPPLEWHITE MAHOGANY SIDEBOARD, C. 1790-1800, H 36", L 60", D 24"

Elaborate inlay work to yew-wood. The inlays are corner fans, oval medallions, cross banding, etc. Late 18th century.

There are age cracks to the veneer. The top has some scratches from age and use. At the front top edge there is a veneer loss approx. 1/4" x 1/2" in size, there are also some losses to the very edge approx. 1" and 1/4" in length. At the right and left side edges of the top, near the back, there are restorations to the veneer. Each of these restorations is approx. 3 1/2" in length and a 1" in width. The left front leg is missing its top satinwood band of trim, approx. 2" in length. The left front leg has also been repaired. All of the legs have some degree of restoration to the veneer. At the upper area of the apron there are two areas with restoration. The right drawer has an approx. 3" long crack and a rectangular crack approx. 3/4" x 1/2", at the lower left edge. At the interior left side of the kneehole there is some worm hole damage. In this area there are two losses to the wood, each approx. 1 1/2" long and a 1/4" in width. The tiny worm holes cover an area approx. 3" x 3" in size. The felt ,at the interior of the drawers, has small white mold speckles. The right side panel has three age cracks ranging from approx. 8” to 4” . TW 7-19-18
