Details:

PHILADELPHIA MAHOGANY BIRDCAGE CANDLESTAND, 18TH C., TILTING AND REVOLVING H 25 1/2", DIA 18 3/4"

Philadelphia mahogany compressed ball candlestand with a dish rimmed top on a birdcage tri-pod base ending in snake feet. Highly figured, the piece is composed of walnut, and has a hinged oval top, tilting and revolving on its pedestal base. Most likely from Philadelphia, circa 1760. From the Estate of Margaret Barton, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Condition:
One leg has a restoration at the upper area where it meets the shaft.  The lower area of the shaft, where all three legs are attached, has been restored.  The table top has a few very minor scratches from use.  There are two restorations to the top edge of the table, one is approx. 1/2" and he other is approx. 1 1/2".  The restorations that have been done on this piece are professional and well done. The table top also has 3 old gouges ranging from 1/8" to 1/4". The pad feet have a few minor scuffs at the base.  All in all this is a beautiful period piece of furniture. The condition is commensurate with its age.  TW 7-7-18
